Every time I travel to Europe, I always come across the most charming and beautiful little flower shops in small towns or on street corners. Each time, I can’t help but think—ah, if only we had such lovely flower shops on the streets of Taiwan too. Having a flower shop in the neighborhood would be such a beautiful sight. Imagine seeing those vibrant, natural colors beyond the concrete jungle on your daily commute—it would definitely brighten your mood.

Located on Yongkang Dongqiao 8th Street, it’s hard not to take a second glance when walking past this charming little flower shop. The owner, Hsiao-Wen, once worked in the banking industry in Taipei, but she has always had a deep, unshakable passion for floral art. Driven by this love, she began studying on her own. At first, only her close friends knew how talented she was—until one day, she had the chance to design a floral-themed gift box for a major brand. That project earned her great recognition and marked the beginning of her freelance floral design journey.

Eventually, she decided to quit her job and fully devote herself to the floral industry. She earned the Japanese AUBE Preserved Flower Certification for overseas instructors, the AFA Certification in Chicago, and more recently, the Korean KFDA Lifestyle Florist License—making her the first in Taiwan to receive it! This “first in Taiwan” florist now runs her shop right here in the Dongqiao business district. We’re truly proud to have such talent in our community—Dongqiao is indeed a treasure trove of gifted individuals.

The shop’s name, “Little Tinker Bell Floral Art,” is inspired by the Tinker Bell character from the story of Peter Pan—a tiny figure always fluttering around Peter Pan, helping others enthusiastically. That image perfectly reflects the kind of joyful and helpful presence Hsiao-Wen aspires to bring as a florist. In the past, people usually only thought of buying flowers for special occasions—weddings, anniversaries, graduations, birthdays, and so on. But flowers shouldn’t be reserved only for special days. Having flowers in everyday spaces brings life, atmosphere, and a sense of happiness and ritual to daily life.

It’s hard to count how many joyful weddings Little Tinker Bell Floral Art has helped decorate or how many heartfelt blessings they’ve wrapped into beautiful bouquets. Now, in addition to selling flowers, the shop also offers floral design classes. With her international certifications and modern aesthetic, Hsiao-Wen has created a shop that exudes elegance—you might even find yourself standing taller and feeling more graceful the moment you walk in.

Many residents of the Dongqiao community have probably taken part in her classes—whether it’s a hands-on experience for kids or a floral arrangement course for adults. These sessions are filled with healing and a sense of accomplishment. After all, beauty is one of the fundamental elements of civilization and art. Flowers, as natural works of art, bring that beauty into our lives, and florists are the ones who integrate nature’s gifts into everyday living.

At a recent event held in the neighborhood called “Why Not Picnic Party” (hosted by BookNeng), Little Tinker Bell Floral Art joined in the fun. Their booth in front of the main library drew many admirers. That’s the kind of scene we hope to see more in everyday life—where beauty is woven into the details of our routines. When a community becomes more beautiful, the whole city transforms, just like Tinker Bell sprinkling fairy dust and creating magical change.

So, on a lazy afternoon, if you’re strolling through the Dongqiao business district and spot a cat napping in a sunlit flower shop, or see people inside the shop fully immersed in crafting lovely floral pieces—whether fresh or preserved flowers, or even artwork—you’ll feel that dialogue between people and flowers. Bringing those creations home adds a special rhythm and ceremony to life. It’s part of Dongqiao’s everyday charm.
And you just might smile and think to yourself,
“Yes, it really is wonderful to have a flower shop in the neighborhood.”
